Use baking soda instead of detergent, 57°

We've started using baking soda instead of dishwashing powder. Not sure of effects on the machine but its cheap and cleans the dishes just fine.
Non polluting too.
Be interested to hear from others who have done it.

Is it able to be used in a sink? I don't have a dishwasher. Also, can it be used on clothes? Where did you hear about this?

You can use it as detergent to clean the floor. I have not used it for the dishwasher. I rather rely on EcoStore.
But I am using soapnuts for the washing machine. Great stuff. Laundry is clean and smells better than using EcoStore washing powder. Has a problem with strong stains though, same as EcoStore stuff.

I use baking soda as "Jif" to clean my bathroom, to clean greasy pots and pans, to clean the dishwasher (just throw 2 large handfuls into the machine and set it to wash) and it's great toothpaste.

Baking soda and vinegar and two really good household cleaners and have proven to be better than the commercially made stuff - cheaper too! We ran out of dishwasher powder 2 nights ago and the vinegar and baking soda seem to be doing just as good a job (so far)
