What was most surprising about the massive privacy breach from the EQC this last week wasn’t that they released a whole heap of private details .
No-one in Christchurch we spoke to was worried about that too much.
What was surprising was that they actually held that much detail on all of our homes and claims cos when we ring we cant get any information at all.
We’ve been thinking here that their IT system may have been designed by the makers of Novopay because it has an absolute lack of transparency in it.
So although the whole point of queuing is that you can usually see progress in the queue there is no transparency and no visibility in the EQC system at all.
You are not allowed to talk to the people processing your claims , even though nothing has happened on your property in two years, and the people on the phones have absolutely no visibility of your claim at all.
The system has frustration , annoyance and despair built in . So what was the amazing thing about the privacy breach .
Not that someone goofed. We were fine about that. But just the fact that they actually do know about our properties and aren’t telling us
is that all that data was on A spreadsheet
